Scientists warn that parts of Oahu's South Shore in Hawaii are sinking 40 times faster than expected, around 25mm a year, potentially causing major flooding to areas like Pearl Harbor and Mapunapuna within this decade, decades earlier than expected. Coastal regions could be significantly affected by 2080 due to rising sea levels and subsidence.
