Sister Midnight director Karan Kandhari: ‘I don’t know how, but we snuck this film through the British system’

An extravagantly original fable about marriage, bad housekeeping and some kind of vampirism

Karan Kandhari's debut film, *Sister Midnight*, a comic-horror fable about arranged marriage and bad housekeeping, premiered at Cannes and won Best Film at Austin Film Festival. Inspired by Buster Keaton and featuring a soundtrack with artists from Howlin' Wolf to The Stooges, Kandhari, a music video director, considers the film a miracle of getting made and seen. He is currently developing a feature called *A Heart Full of Napalm*.
