South Lanarkshire Council has decided to reduce its use of the X (formerly Twitter) platform, citing concerns about harmful and extremist content. The council will now only use X for emergency alerts and urgent information. With over 59,000 followers, the decision to limit its presence on the platform was supported by a majority of councillors, though some opposed it, arguing that it could leave constituents without vital information and that the council's time could be better spent.
