Sprint final à Rome pour un accord financier sur la sauvegarde de la nature

Le temps manque et les milliards de dollars aussi, quatre mois après l’échec des négociations de la COP16 en Colombie.

The COP16 biodiversity conference in Rome concluded successfully with a last-minute agreement to address nature conservation funding. Following the failure of the 2022 COP15 in Colombia, countries adopted a five-year plan aimed at halting nature destruction and improving funding distribution to developing nations. The agreement targets $200 billion annually by 2030, with $30 billion allocated from developed to poorer countries. Monitoring frameworks were established for the next COP17 in Armenia, yet debates persist on funding mechanisms, with differing views on creating a new fund versus enhancing existing ones.
