Sylt bekommt nach Sturmfluten fast zwei Millionen Kubikmeter neuen Sand

Following storm surges, approximately two million cubic meters of sand will be deposited on Sylt in April to protect the island's coastline at a cost of €12.5 million. The sand will be extracted from the seabed and pumped onto the beach, replenishing areas where sand has been lost due to erosion. Since 1972, over 60 million cubic meters of sand have been used to reinforce Sylt's west coast.
