Syrian Refugee Suspected in 'Allahu Akbar' Mass Stabbing in Austria that left Five Injured and 14

A Syrian refugee is suspected in a mass stabbing in Villach, Austria, where six people were attacked, leaving five injured and a 14-year-old boy dead. The suspect, reportedly shouting "Allahu Akbar" and using ISIS-associated gestures, was subdued by a delivery driver before being apprehended by police. He arrived in Austria in 2020 and was recently recognized as a refugee, though he had not been flagged as a threat by authorities. The attack occurred two days after a suspected Islamist attack in Munich, where a migrant allegedly drove into a crowd, injuring 39. Austrian Freedom Party leader Herbert Kickl criticized the country's asylum system, while other parties distanced themselves from his party, similar to the approach taken against the anti-migration AfD in Germany.
