Top five PIP health conditions providing millions of people with up to £737 each month

The Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and its Scottish counterpart, the Adult Disability Payment (ADP), provide financial support to millions of people in the UK. At the end of October 2024, over 3.6 million individuals across Great Britain, including 80,000 in Scotland, were receiving PIP, with many set to transition to ADP. The top five health conditions accounting for 85.8% of claims include psychiatric disorders, musculoskeletal issues, neurological conditions, and respiratory diseases. PIP/ADP offers tax-free, non-means-tested support of £28.70 to £184.30 weekly, paid every four weeks, except for terminally ill individuals, who receive payments weekly. Eligibility requires difficulties with daily living or mobility for at least three months, expected to last nine months or longer.
