Over 400 U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees were removed, with 200 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 130 from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and nearly 50 from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. These employees, based in Washington, D.C., were placed on administrative leave. The Trump administration stated the workforce purge aims to save $50 million, improve accountability, and eliminate non-mission critical positions.
