Following President Trump's inauguration, deportation raids in Texas led to nearly 200 new federal criminal cases filed by the Department of Justice. Almost 100 cases involve illegal aliens charged with re-entering the country after removal, many with prior felony convictions. Over 80 defendants face charges of illegally entering the country, with other cases related to human smuggling and other immigration crimes, including an assault on law enforcement officers. Two bakery owners were indicted for harboring illegal aliens, and individuals were sentenced for border-related crimes.
