Up to nine apartments destroyed in blaze in Portarlington in early hours of Thursday morning
A fire at an apartment block in Kilnacourt Woods, Portarlington, Co Laois, on Thursday morning injured two men in their 20s and 50s, who were hospitalized with serious injuries. Firefighters rescued one person, and another jumped from the building. Emergency services from multiple locations responded to the blaze, which destroyed up to nine apartments. Portarlington GAA opened its facilities to those affected, and council and Department of Social Protection officials are providing assistance and emergency accommodation.
