Undercover at UK's crazy Turkey surgery expo – from butt lifts to genital aesthetics

The Mirror went undercover at London's International Health Tourism Expo - one reporter was offered new teeth after a two-second consultation, and a hospital rep claimed a three-year-old with autism could benefit from controversial treatments

The Mirror conducted an undercover investigation at the International Health Tourism Expo in London, organized by a Turkish firm. The expo featured a variety of treatments, including butt lifts, genital aesthetics, and controversial autism remedies. A dentist offered 20 new teeth after a brief consultation, while a hospital representative suggested stem cell therapy for a child with autism, despite lacking evidence. Experts criticized these treatments as ineffective and potentially dangerous. The expo, with 80 stalls, attracted 1.8 million patients last year. Since 2019, at least 28 British individuals have died from cheap cosmetic surgeries in Turkey.
