University of Alberta med school students push for creation of ICU for homeless Edmontonians

A group of university students held a news conference in Edmonton on Tuesday to bring attention to their idea.

University of Alberta public health students are advocating for a specialized ICU for homeless Edmontonians to address their specific needs, reduce emergency room burden, and build upon the existing Bridge Healing Transitional Accommodation Program. The proposed ICU would provide targeted healthcare and connect patients with resources, with the support of healthcare professionals and those with lived experience of homelessness.
