US adds more Chinese firms to tech ban list. Is this just the start for Trump 2.0?

America has a sense of urgency about the way China is closing the technology gap, analyst says.



In March 2025, the US added approximately 60 Chinese tech companies and research institutions, including Inspur Group and the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, to its "entity list," restricting US firms from trading with them. Analysts suggest this move, the first under "Trump 2.0" tech export controls, reflects US concerns about China's technological advancement and may be part of a deal-making strategy.
