The US has redesignated Yemen's Houthi group as a foreign terrorist organization due to attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. The designation carries sanctions for providing material support to the group. The US will also offer up to $15 million for information leading to the disruption of Houthi financing. This reverses a previous decision by the Biden administration to revoke the designation over humanitarian concerns. The Houthis have been fighting Yemen's government since 2014.
