Villagers turn on vicar for turning 15th century church into 'lighthouse' by rendering tower bright white after claiming it would be 'a soft honey colour'

Askrigg, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park s furious with its vicar for having a 15th century church tower rendered in white making it 'an abomination' which can be seen for miles.



Villagers in Askrigg, Yorkshire Dales, are upset with Vicar Dave Clark after the 15th-century St Oswald's Church tower was rendered bright white, despite his prior assurances it would be a "soft honey color." Locals feel the tower is an eyesore and out of keeping with the landscape, with a petition against the rendering garnering 438 signatures.
