Violent barber left housemate with brain injury two years before brutal street attack on separate victim

The injured party was asleep in bed in his rented room around 1.30am on the night in question when he was awoken by slamming doors and loud voices



Craig Maples, a Dublin barber already serving seven years for a 2022 assault that caused a man named Austin Doherty traumatic brain injury and mobility issues, pleaded guilty to assaulting his housemate in 2020, causing the housemate to emigrate. Maples received a two-year and three-month prison sentence for the 2020 assault, backdated to his guilty plea.
