On the first Friday of Ramadan, a limited number of older Palestinians were allowed into Jerusalem amid wariness due to the Gaza conflict. Worshippers scuffled with Israeli police after prayers at the Al-Aqsa compound. Access was restricted, with some turned back at checkpoints. Police were heavily deployed in Jerusalem's Old City.
