Around three million more families would qualify for energy bill discounts under new proposals from the UK Government.
The UK government plans to expand the Warm Home Discount Scheme, providing £150 to an additional 2.7 million households (including nearly one million with children) in Great Britain in winter 2025/26, bringing the total to one in five families receiving help. While energy bills are rising by 6.4% (an increase of £111 over the next year), the government is also working with Ofgem to implement a debt relief scheme to reduce costs and lower bills by £25-£30 a year.
