Waspi campaigners threaten legal action after ‘gaslighting’ over compensation

The Women Against State Pension Inequality campaign has sent a ‘letter before action’ to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Waspi campaigners have issued a legal threat to the UK government, demanding reconsideration of its rejection to compensate women affected by state pension age changes. They sent a 'letter before action' to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), warning of potential High Court proceedings. A watchdog suggested compensating women born in the 1950s, but the government deems the £10.5 billion cost prohibitive. The Waspi campaign is funding legal action via a £75,000 Crowdjustice campaign, arguing the government's rejection is legally flawed. The DWP has 14 days to respond before legal proceedings commence.
