W.E.B. Du Bois Museum Foundation marks 157 years of Du Bois legacy

The Du Bois Museum Foundation, in collaboration with Ghana's Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, marked the 157th anniversary of Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois's birth at the Du Bois Memorial Centre in Accra. The event featured reflections on Du Bois's contributions to Pan-Africanism, racial equity, and social justice, along with a wreath-laying ceremony. The Minister of Tourism emphasized the center's significance and highlighted financial commitments for its restoration. Foundation representatives clarified that the government had not sold the Du Bois Centre land, with the foundation securing funding for its development. Plans include restoring Du Bois's bungalow, constructing a new memorial, and establishing a state-of-the-art museum. The foundation also partnered with the Library of Congress to conserve Du Bois's collection. Speakers celebrated Du Bois's global impact, and the foundation reaffirmed its commitment to preserving his legacy and promoting Pan-Africanism and social justice.
