Welcome to Britain's kindest village: Volunteers run shop, library and post office, pub is locally

Residents of Trawden in Lancashire run their own community centre, pub, shop and post office and hold regular friendship meetings for the elderly in what must be Britain's kindest village.

Trawden, a village in Lancashire, is known as Britain's "kindest village" due to its strong community spirit. Around 150 of its 2,700 residents volunteer to run the village's shop, library, post office, and pub, and also organize friendship meetings for the elderly. This initiative began a decade ago when residents formed a charity to save their community center, and has since expanded to cover most of the village's important facilities.
