Elias Arnold, a 23-year-old carpenter in Freiburg, shares his journey into the trade. Starting with childhood projects, his passion grew when his family restored an old house in 2015. After high school, he pursued a practical year in heritage preservation, working on historic buildings despite the pandemic. He found school less engaging due to his hands-on experience. During his apprenticeship, he learned complex processes and responsibility, which he now applies in his permanent role. He values teamwork and collaboration but emphasizes the physical demands of the job, noting the importance of health. His passion lies in restoring historical buildings, bringing him fulfillment.
