ActionAid's Independent Judicial Accountability Panel (IJAP) criticized the Supreme Court's handling of the Rivers political crisis, citing a lack of clarity regarding the defection of state assembly members. The IJAP also found fault with the court's judgments regarding local government elections, alleging reliance on affidavit evidence without thorough legal interpretation. The panel further highlighted the Federal Government's non-compliance with an ECOWAS court ruling on human rights violations during the Lekki ENDSARS protest and recommended improvements to judgment clarity and accessibility. They urged judicial caution in political matters, adherence to oath of office, and respect for court orders by government.
