Additional 6,800 vehicles recalled over faulty Takata airbags

An additional 6,820 vehicles in Cyprus have been recalled due to faulty Takata airbags, bringing the total pending recalls to 69,516 out of 81,060 initially tracked. An investigative committee has been formed, and 7,000 airbags have been replaced. The government is pressuring companies and expects more replacement airbags by the end of March. A garage will be established for replacing airbags in vehicles imported from non-EU countries. Manufacturers are responsible for storing/disposing of faulty airbags.
