Alberta Premier Danielle Smith rejected an oil export tax and any restrictions on oil and gas exports to the U.S. in her meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney. Smith also presented a list of demands, including energy corridors, repeal of pipeline hindering legislation, lifting a tanker ban, ending the oil and gas emissions cap and clean energy regulations, ending the federal prohibition on single use plastics and a net-zero car mandate, and provincial oversight of the carbon tax. Carney stated Canada needs to build energy projects and seek new customers and export routes.
