Amazon is still hosting spyware victims’ data weeks after breach alert

Amazon won't say if it will stop hosting data from three phone surveillance operations that spilled private data on millions of people. © 2024 TechCrunch. All rights reserved. For personal use only.

TechCrunch reported that Amazon is still hosting data from 3.1 million victims of the Cocospy, Spyic, and Spyzie spyware operations on Amazon Web Services (AWS), despite being notified weeks prior. Amazon stated it was "following its process" and pointed to its abuse reporting form, but did not confirm any action against the storage buckets. TechCrunch provided specific Amazon-hosted storage "bucket" names containing stolen phone data, but Amazon claims not to have received a formal abuse report from TechCrunch.
