An Argentine court drops charges against 3 people tied to the death of singer Liam Payne

A court in Argentina has dropped charges of criminal negligence against three of the five people indicted in connection with the death of Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer who fell from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last October

Liam Payne’s friend Rogelio “Roger” Nores, who was charged in connection with Payne’s manslaughter, had the charges against him dropped after an appeal court reversed the decision. Nores, along with two hotel workers, Gilda Martin and Esteban Grassi, were initially charged but will no longer face prosecution. Two other men accused of selling Payne cocaine remain in prison and could still face trial. Nores’s lawyer expressed happiness over the decision, and Nores stated he was glad the case was over, emphasizing his innocence. The case centered on Nores’s alleged role as Payne’s manager, which he denied. Nores also sued Payne’s father, Geoff Payne, for defamation, claiming Geoff made false statements about him to authorities. Nores stated he and Payne were mutual friends and that he had no legal duty to care for Payne. Proceeds from the lawsuit, if won, would go to Payne’s son, Bear.
