Animal rights campaigner wins ruling allowing him near a facility where dogs are bred for medical research

John Curtin, 62, was originally found to have trespassed and got in the way of vehicles entering or leaving the facility at the MBR Acres site in Wyton, Cambridgeshire.

Animal rights campaigner John Curtin has won a High Court ruling allowing him to protest near a facility in Cambridgeshire where beagles are bred for medical research. Curtin, who was previously fined for trespassing, described the ruling as a "victory of David over Goliath." The facility, MBR Acres, is licensed to breed animals for testing, and Curtin has been campaigning against its operations for 40 years. The protest camp, Camp Beagle, has been the UK's longest-running animal rights protest since 2021. Activists claim 2,000 beagles are bred at the site before being sent to laboratories for research.
