Apple sues British government to stop them accessing user data

Yvette Cooper recently demanded that the tech giant install a 'backdoor' to give the Home Office access to private data.

Apple has filed a legal challenge against the British government to prevent them from accessing user data stored on iPhones. The company is appealing an order requiring it to create a "backdoor" to access encrypted data, arguing that doing so would compromise user privacy and security. Apple has already disabled the Advanced Data Protection (ADP) feature in the UK to avoid complying with the order, stating that it has never built a backdoor into its products. The lawsuit was filed with the Investigatory Powers Tribunal, with the case potentially being heard within the next month. The move follows criticism from former US President Donald Trump, who reportedly told UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that the UK government could not force Apple to comply with the order.
