April 2025 payment dates for benefits and pensions as Labour announces cuts

Benefits, state pensions and the minimum wage will all rise from April

The Independent reports that in April 2025, UK benefits, state pensions, and the minimum wage will rise, coinciding with increased household costs like energy, water, and council tax. Benefit payments will mostly be on schedule, except for those due on April 18th and 21st, which will be paid on April 17th. Labour's £5 million welfare cuts will alter Universal Credit rates and PIP eligibility next year. The DWP aims to complete the transition to Universal Credit by January 2026. An estimated £23 billion in benefits goes unclaimed annually.
