Astronauts finally begin journey home after months stuck on space station

Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are making their 17-hour journey back to Earth on Tuesday after their initially planned week-long trip turned into months of living aboard the International Space Station.

Astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams began their 17-hour return to Earth on a SpaceX Dragon capsule after being stranded on the International Space Station for months due to technical issues with Boeing's Starliner capsule, which was originally intended for their return. They undocked from the ISS at 5:05 AM GMT, accompanied by Crew 9 mission members. Reentry and splashdown coverage begins at 4:45 PM ET.
