Attendance Allowance set to end in 13 council areas this month

A new devolved payment will replace Attendance Allowance for nearly 150,000 people by the end of this year.

Attendance Allowance will end in 13 Scottish council areas this month, replaced by the new Pension Age Disability Benefit. This benefit mirrors the eligibility criteria and payment rates of Attendance Allowance, with a lower rate of £72.65 and a higher rate of £108.55. The rollout begins in five areas, expands to 13 more in April 2023, and becomes nationwide by April 2025. Existing claimants will transition automatically without action, while terminally ill individuals can apply via a fast-track process.
