Badly hurt child among 19 injured after Delta Airlines flight flips over on landing at Toronto’s Pearson Airport

A Delta flight from Minneapolis to Toronto flipped upon landing on February 2nd, resulting in 17 injuries but no fatalities. All 80 passengers and crew were accounted for. The airport was temporarily closed for about two and a half hours. Airport officials expressed relief over the absence of casualties. Initial reports of 19 injuries were corrected to 17, with emergency services, including air ambulances, responding. Weather conditions, including blowing snow and strong winds, were noted. The plane was cleared to land at 2:10 p.m., and the cause of the incident, including a missing right wing, is under investigation. This incident follows the 2005 crash at Pearson, which also involved severe weather but no fatalities. Delta's CEO and Ontario's Premier expressed concern and relief. The flight was operated by Endeavor Air, a Delta subsidiary, using a CRJ-900 aircraft, the same type involved in a recent collision.
