BC Maritime Employers Association Collaborates with Local Indigenous Artist on Mural to Promote Reconciliation and Coastal Connections
The British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) has partnered with Musqueam artist Darryl Blyth to install a mural at their Vancouver Dispatch Centre, symbolizing reconciliation and coastal connections. Titled "Oceans Together," the mural depicts orca whales and a marine vessel in a neo-traditional Coast Salish style, reflecting BCMEA's commitment to reconciliation with local Indigenous communities, including the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Blyth, a former maritime industry worker, created the piece to honor Indigenous heritage and promote cultural recognition in the maritime sector.
