According to Rick Bell of the Calgary Herald, President Trump initially planned to impose tariffs on Canadian goods but delayed the decision to March 4th, and the tariffs were implemented this past Tuesday. Automakers requested a one-month pause, which Trump granted with reluctance. During a phone call with Prime Minister Trudeau, Trump reportedly used profanities, expressing anger over American milk treatment in Canada and disagreeing about fentanyl statistics.
