Public order offences rose by three per cent to 30,092 in the 12 months to October 2024
In the year leading up to October 2024 in Ireland, burglaries, kidnappings, public order offences, theft (especially shoplifting), and weapons/explosives offences increased, while homicides, drug offences, and sexual offences decreased. Drug offences were at their lowest since 2020, while theft, assault, and harassment were at their highest. The Southern region saw the largest decrease in drug offenses and the largest increase in burglaries.
