Car safety tech dubbed 'dangerous, distracting and useless' by drivers

Motorists are often infuriated by incessant warning bongs from these system or feel too uncomfortable relinquishing control - and their safety - to tech in their cars.

A survey by Which? found that over half of drivers turn off car safety features (ADAS) like speed assist and lane-keep assist because they find them dangerous, distracting, or useless. Drivers complain about incessant warnings and reluctance to relinquish control. Despite not being mandated in the UK, most manufacturers install ADAS, which are required to activate automatically upon starting the car, though drivers can disable them each journey. Road safety experts find it ironic as drivers depend on other technologies, and Euro NCAP rewards cars with ADAS. Which? has received hundreds of complaints about ADAS and urges testing features before purchasing a car.
