Cardiff University denies it is ‘offshoring jobs’ despite Tory MP’s claims

A spokesperson said jobs will not be moved to its proposed Kazakhstan campus amid a consultation on 400 positions being cut.

Cardiff University denies claims of "offshoring jobs" to its new Kazakhstan campus amid a consultation on cutting 400 roles due to a £31.2 million operational deficit and funding shortfall. A Tory MP alleged the move was a result of increased national insurance contributions, while the university insists the Kazakhstan campus is unrelated to the proposed job cuts and that no Cardiff staff will be forced to work there or be made redundant and offered a Kazakhstan contract.
