‘Cash is king for parking’ among older motorists and people on low incomes

The AA said it seems counter-intuitive for some car parks to refuse customers wanting to pay in cash, at a time when high streets are under strain.



An AA survey found that cash is the preferred parking payment method for 40% of motorists overall, particularly for older drivers (46% of those 65+) and those on low incomes (53%). While younger drivers prefer contactless payments, the lack of cash options frustrates some drivers, potentially impacting high street businesses.
