Catholic schools in the Philippines have raised concerns over a comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) program, warning it could threaten their identity and academic freedom. The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) has sought clarification on the program, highlighting potential overlaps with existing laws like the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act and the Magna Carta of Women. CEAP argues that a "one-size-fits-all" curriculum may not align with the diverse cultural, religious, and institutional contexts of Catholic schools and emphasizes the importance of allowing flexibility to integrate faith-based perspectives. The association also stressed the vital role of parents in educating their children about human sexuality and reproductive health, reiterating that parents are the primary educators. CEAP called for a balanced and inclusive approach to CSE that respects the diversity of educational institutions, the role of parents, and the autonomy of faith-based schools.
