Catholics allowed to represent King at Church of Scotland after law overturned

A 325-year-old law barring Catholics from representing the King at the Church of Scotland's General Assembly was overturned by MPs, allowing Lady Elish Angiolini to become the first Roman Catholic Lord High Commissioner. The law, dating back to the Stuart era, prevented Catholics from holding the position. The change was unanimously supported by MPs.
