A French law proposal aims to acknowledge the suffering caused by the criminalization of abortion before the 1975 Veil Law, rehabilitate women and those who helped them who were condemned, and confirm national consensus around abortion rights. It includes recognizing the harm done by laws penalizing abortion and creating a national commission to acknowledge the prejudice suffered by women and abortion providers before the Veil Law. The government supports the proposal.
