Celebrating the graduates of York’s Internationally Educated Professionals bridging program
York University is celebrating the graduates of its Internationally Educated Professionals (IEP) Bridging Program, which helps newcomers overcome barriers to success in the Canadian job market. The program, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development, offers certificates in Canadian Business and Information Technology, providing participants with local professional accreditation, career coaching, and networking opportunities. Over 1,500 new immigrants from 65 countries have participated in the program over the past 15 years. Graduates, such as Rahman, Maryam Tarhini, and Sima Gul Qasemi, shared how the program improved their communication skills, helped them secure jobs, and facilitated their integration into Canadian work culture. The celebration, held on March 5, 2025, recognized graduates from 25 countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ukraine, and more. York University's campuses in Costa Rica and India also offer similar programs.
