Cheltenham Day Three: Doddiethegreat becomes another poignant Cheltenham winner

Running in the colours of Kenny Alexander, the nine-year-old is named after the former Scotland rugby union great Doddie Weir, who died of motor neurone disease in November 2022.

Doddiethegreat, named after Doddie Weir and ridden by Brian Hughes, won the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle, honoring Weir's memory and providing Nicky Henderson a one-two finish. Rachael Blackmore secured her first win of the 2025 Festival aboard Air Of Entitlement in the Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle. Paul Nicholls celebrated his 50th Cheltenham Festival winner with Caldwell Potter's victory in the Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.
