Marcel Ciolacu, the Prime Minister of Romania, has rejected Elena Lasconi's proposal to support Ilie Bolojan as a presidential candidate. Ciolacu stated that Bolojan, as the leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), has already signed a governing agreement that rules out his candidacy for the presidency. Additionally, Bolojan has publicly reaffirmed his stance against running for president. Ciolacu offered a compromise, suggesting that if Lasconi withdraws from the presidential race to support Crin Antonescu, he would step down as prime minister, allowing the USR to join the government. However, Lasconi refused this offer, stating that the USR will not support Antonescu but believes all pro-European parties should unite behind Bolojan.
