Criminal court backlog could hit 100,000 by end of 2029: Fears victims could pull out of trials as crisis reaches record high

The backlog in the Crown Courts stood at 74,651 at the end of December 2024, up from 73,172 at the end of September and 67,317 cases in December 2023.
