In January 2025, Cyprus' general government surplus was €566.9 million (1.6% of GDP), up from €476.5 million in January 2024 but down from €1.5078 billion in December 2024. Government revenue increased 14.3% to €1.55 billion, driven by higher tax revenue, while expenditure rose 11.8% to €988 million, with increases in personnel compensation and social benefits. The surplus was mainly from central government (€440.5 million), social security funds (€106.1 million), and local government (€20.3 million).
