Des agences de placement pour éviter des «bris de service» dans des écoles de Montréal

Cette «solution de dernier recours» est utilisée pour remplacer du personnel de soutien absent.

To avoid service disruptions, the Centre de services scolaire de Montréal (CSSDM) is using placement agencies to fill support staff positions in schools, including those for students with disabilities and special education technicians. This measure, costing up to $700,000, is prompted by difficulty in recruiting and retaining staff, particularly in specialized schools facing violence. While some see it as a necessary short-term solution, others, like the union, fear it will increase instability and negatively impact student services, advocating for better working conditions and more permanent positions to address the underlying shortage. Other school boards confirm the difficulty to staff special needs positions but don't use placement agencies. The CSSDM has also contracted private firms for speech therapy services due to unfilled positions.
