Negotiations are underway to secure the long-term future of the Deutschlandticket, a popular public transport pass, but a price increase is proposed starting in 2027. While the ticket price will remain at €49 until 2026, user contributions are expected to increase gradually and "in a socially acceptable manner" thereafter. The federal government currently subsidizes the ticket with €1.5 billion annually. The proposal aims to ensure financial stability and cost allocation between the federal government and the states.
