Diary of Scottish artist discovered nearly 50 years after his death

Painter and designer Duncan Grant was a member of the influential Bloomsbury Group of artists and writers.

A diary belonging to Scottish artist and Bloomsbury Group member Duncan Grant, dating from 1911, has been discovered nearly 50 years after his death. Found among the effects of art historian John Woodeson's family, the diary reveals Grant's daily life, including details about his early commissions and interactions with figures like Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf. The diary, containing a nude sketch and a photograph of E.M. Forster, will be auctioned at Gorringe's on March 25.
